My family live on a compound in Abu Dhabi.  It is on the edge of an inlet from the Gulf opposite a shipyard and strangely surrounded by mangrove swamps.  There is a moment in the evening when the ‘clanging’ from the shipyard stops, the insects, frogs and birds start their cacophony of noise and the sun is just setting, which is magic.

I have spent some time visiting family in this  beautiful desert city which is on the edge of the mountains and dunes  bordering Oman.  The landscape seems an endless stretch of sand and rocky hills where the light changes constantly.
