My family live on a compound in Abu Dhabi. It is on the edge of an inlet from the Gulf opposite a shipyard and strangely surrounded by mangrove swamps. There is a moment in the evening when the ‘clanging’ from the shipyard stops, the insects, frogs and birds start their cacophony of noise and the sun is just setting, which is magic.
